As I said in my previous series, free MMORPG industry grows by leaps and bounds every year. New MMORPG and MMO games are readmitted on the basis almost weekly here in the United States. Games like every MapleStory and heirs of destiny are over 70 million players worldwide; that is right, that every game has over 70 million players, while the most popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft, has only 10 million users. Of course this isn't exactly a fair comparison as World of Warcraft has a monthly fee, while the two games that I mention it, but even so, it would be foolish to call the genre MMORPG free small. With such an incredible amount of popularity is imagine that free MMORPG would get much more attention from the main flow of the game, but networks are not.
Networks like G4 ignore almost completely free MMORPG genre. It is as if disclaim even exists. There aren't any more print journals that follow free MMORPG, except maybe a specialty publication with little practice. We analyze the free MMORPG market for awhile. Are literally hundreds of free online MMORPG out in United States already market with countless games currently in closed beta. MapleStory Nexon game in the United States alone makes more than 30 million per year and is expected to increase in 2008. With large publishers as dia7maria, Netgame AeriaGames Gpotato, and release new games almost every month, the industry is ready to continue to grow.
The only MMORPG that gets any attention at all traditional games magazines and outlets is World of Warcraft. We have heard a lot of buzz around Age of Conan as well, but it's still a pays to play the game. With the incredible growth of the MMORPG free I wouldn't be surprised if the pays to play the genre has been completely eliminated in the next 10 years. There aren't really any success pays to play MMORPGS out there anymore due to strong competition. Previously popular pays to play MMORPGS like Ultima Online and EverQuest are losing subscribers every day. Players are flocking in addition to free to play MMORPG. Payment only real game that performs well is World of Warcraft, and this phenomenon cannot last forever. Think about it; It would be as popular as it is today if required monthly fee for access to Facebook? Of course not! Facebook is free to use, for consumers, because the company can make money through advertising and selling Facebook Gifts [images shortly you can send your friends usually one dollar]. If you look in terms MMORPG free gifts of Facebook are like cash shop. They allow the company to make money off a free product or service. I can't wait to pay to play still being around in 10 years, there are already many free to play games out there today business models and there will be only more in the future.
